The Palace of Travel, Transportation and Water on the right in this nighttime view was constructed for the California Pacific International Exposition of 1935 held in San Diego's Balboa Park. This building had a separate entrance facing the Spreckels Paviliion with "Water Palace" on the facade. After the exposition it was demolished to make way for a parking lot. In the center the source of the "aurora borealis" lights is the roof of the Spreckels Organ Pavilion. John D. (1853-1926) and Adolph B. Spreckels (1857-1924) donated the Spreckels pipe organ to the City of San Diego in 1914 for the Panama-California International Exposition of 1915 held in Balboa Park (originally City Park) to celebrate the completion of the Panama Canal. On the left can be seen the left part of the shelter erected by the Latter Day Saints for church members, torn down after the exposition.
