[Curt Teich and Company, Incorporated, Chicago, Illinois]
The Palace of Electricity and Varied Industries (or Electricity and Varied Industries Building) underwent a name change in 1936 to the Palace of General Exhibits and again in 1948 to the Balboa Park Gymnasium. The mural is no longer on the facade, and it serves in 2013 as a San Diego Municipal Gymnasium. This view apparently dates from the California Pacific International Exposition of 1935 held in San Diego's Balboa Park, when an interior exhibit is said to have included a "House of Magic" featuring radio and light waves and talking appliances. The Teich number in the lower right white border is 5A-H1144, from which the date is derived.
