[Curt Teich and Company, Incorporated, Chicago, Illinois]
The Standard Oil Tower to the Sun was located at the north end of Plaza de America during the San Diego Exposition of 1935 held in San Diego's Balboa Park. At a height of 108 feet, it featured Mayan and Art Deco ornamentation and was dedicated to United States national parks in the West. On the right in the distance can be seen the Spreckels Organ Pavilion, built for the Panama-California International Exposition of 1915. The Palisades Cafe, visible in the left center, was later demolished. The Teich number in the lower right white border is 5A-H1147, from which the date was derived. The publisher's number 4423 is in the upper left white border. This is a linen card produced as part of a series for the California Pacific International Exposition of 1935.
