Designed by William Templeton Johnson (1877-1957) and called the "Palace of Natural History" during the California Pacific International Exposition of 1935, the San Diego Natural History Museum was dedicated in 1933. Built on the site of the former Southern Counties Building of the Panama-California Exposition of 1915, the Museum underwent a major renovation in 2001.
