[Curt Teich and Company, Incorporated, Chicago, Illinois]
The Palace of Science (or Palace of Science of Man) was the name for the original California State Buildings--including the California Tower--during the California Pacific International Exposition of 1935, held in Balboa Park. This building was designed by Bertram Goodhue (1869-1924) and constructed for the Panama-California International Exposition of 1915. This view shows the west portal from inside Balboa Park (formerly City Park), El Prado leads onto Cabrillo Bridge. Glimpsed through the trees on the right is the Veterans of Foreign Wars Building, constructed for the 1915 Exposition as the Science and Education Building, later known as the Palace of Photography and the Medical Arts Building. It was demolished in the 1960s. The publisher's number 4417 is in the upper left white border. The Teich number in the lower right border is 5A-H451, from which the date was derived.
