VanOrnum Colorprint Co., Los Angeles, California
The Hollywood home of painter Paul de Longpre (1855-1911) was built in 1901, designed by architect Louis Bourgeois. The house was demolished around 1920. After an 1896 New York exhibit brought him fame, de Longpre, known for his paintings of flowers like those in the gardens here, moved to Hollywood in 1899. His home and garden constituted a stop on the "Balloon Excursion" run by the Los Angeles streetcar companies. The publisher's number on the back is A 109. The motto "On the Road of a thousand wonders" on the divided back indicates that this was considered a destination for a promotion of The Coast Line-Shasta Route of the Southern Pacific Railroad. They produced promotional booklets in 1907 and 1908.
