Pier Avenue is shown branching off Highway 1, the Pacific Coast Highway (just beyond the bottom of the photograph) and leading straight out to Pier Plaza, which contained an auditorium. This concrete pier lasted from 1914 until 1944, when it was condemned after storm damage. This is a Real Photo Post Card (RPPC) made with EKC photo paper (as evidenced in the stampbox on the back of this card). The Real Photo process allowed photographers to take a "snap shot" and have it finished at a photo shop that printed it out on postcard backing for mailing. This EKC photo paper was made from 1930-1950. A publisher's number is listed near the bottom right corner: 529.
