"Natural color" post card of the Arco del Futuro (also known as Arco del Porvenir or Arch of the Future). The arch was designed in a Moorish style by 1935 Exposition director of architecture Richard Requa (1881-1941) to span the Avenida de Palacios (Avenue of Palaces, subsequently El Prado street), with large, low pools on either side in the Plaza del Pacifico. It was built for the California Pacific International Exposition of 1935 held in San Diego's Balboa Park. The Spreckels Prgan Pavision, which can be seen on the right, is the source of the lights in the sky reflected in the pool.
