[Curt Teich & Co., Inc., Chicago, Illinois]
Two paddlewheelers (probably glass-bottom boats) and small boats lie in the cove near Sugar Loaf Rock on the northwest rim of Avalon Bay. Stairs went up from the rocky beach to the top of the rock, where an observation point is visible. This postcard has damage in the right bottom corner. The divided back carries the information that the card was made in Germany, that Santa Catalina Island is "2-3/4 hours ride from Los Angeles," and that "First-class Hotels and tent accommodations" are available there. The publisher's number is E. 23, and upside down in the stampbox, a typical placement for numbers by Curt Teich, is "1268," a very early number for his operation.
