"On the Road of a Thousand Wonders" on the back of this card indicates that Santa Catalina Island was considered a destination for a promotion of The Coast Line-Shasta Route of the Southern Pacific Railroad. Maps of the period indicate that San Pedro was on this route, from which one could catch a steamship to Catalina. There are promotional booklets from 1907 and 1908.
