The home of William Wrigley, Jr., owner of most of Santa Catalina Island until his death, became the Mt. Ada Inn bed and breakfast. The back of the residence is shown here in the year after it was built, along with the town of Avalon, with its piers and Avalon Bay, and the Sugar Loaf Casino, named for Sugar Loaf Rock jutting into the sea at the north end of Avalon Bay. The pier nearest to Mt. Ada is the Green Pleasure Pier, built in 1909. The Steamer Pier for the steamship ferries, is just beyond. Although unacknowledged, the Curt Teich number on the back of the card is A-91778, which, according to the guide maintained by the Curt Teich Postcard Archives, translates to 1922. The publisher's number on the back of the card is C.I.-7. The single word "Homes" is written on the back of this unsent card, in pencil.
