"Natural color" post card of the Lily Pond, the Cafe of the World and the House of Hospitality during the California Pacific International Exposition of 1935-1936. The Exposition was held in San Diego's Balboa Park. The Lily Pond, also known as the "Lagoon," Laguna de Las Flores, and Laguna de Espejo (Reflecting Pool) was built for the Panama-California International Exposition of 1915-1916, and the Palace of Better Housing (left) was then known as the Commerce and Industries Building, later the Canadian Building, Electric Building, and rebuilt as the Casa de Balboa (1980). The Cafe of the World (right) was constructed as the Home Economy Building for the 1915 Exposition, and was also known as the Pan-Pacific Building and the American Legion Building before it was demolished in 1963.
