Picture postcard of memorial wall and memorial fountain at First Unitarian Church, San Diego
Ed Royce Photography, San Diego, California, US
The Memorial Wall by Rhoda Le Blanc Lopez (1912-1993) and Gerald L. Thiebolt is depicted on this picture postcard along with the Memorial Fountain by James T. Hubbell--both in the patio of the First Unitarian Church of San Diego. This church on Front Street is in 2013 known as the First Unitarian Unversalist Church of San Diego. The congregation dates from 1873 with the start of the First Unitarian Society, organized in Horton's Hall, which had its first public service in 1874. Incorporated in 1882, the Society built its first church at Tenth Avenue and F Street in 1883 (which burned down), and occupied a number of addresses before this one, still active in 2013, including Unity Hall on Sixth Avenue between C and D Streets. Royce Photography's number on the back of this card is 83952-D
