Dops photo paper
This is a black-and-white picture postcard that gives a different view of the Red Sails Inn from the color postcard in this collection. It shows a mast on the roof but a sailboat at the side rather than on top of the building. Some of the parking lot with automobiles and palm trees is shown. It claims to be "located where the book 'I Cover the Waterfront' was written." This is the "original" Red Sails Inn said to be "in the 20's" by the 2013 Red Sails Inn Web site. The Red Sails Inn in this year is at 2614 Shelter Island Drive in San Diego, established 1957. This is a Real Photo Post Card (RPPC) made with Dops photo paper (as evidenced in the stampbox on the back of this card). The Real Photo process allowed photographers to take a "snap shot" and have it finished at a photo shop that printed it out on postcard backing for mailing. This type of Dops photo paper was made from 1925-1942.
