Coin divers with rowboats on Avalon Bay, Santa Catalina Island

 

 

 

 

Divers rowed out to meet the steamships carrying passengers from San Pedro on the United States mainland, waiting for the crowds on deck to throw coins for them to retrieve. Sugar Loaf Rock is in the background on the left toward the top. The publisher's number in the upper left corner is 5444, and the card has a divided back (manufactured after March 1, 1907).
