After a year and two months in the Royal Canadian Air Force, Berg took advantage of a three-week-old direct transfer for all Americans serving in the Royal Canadian or Royal Air Force. Now assigned to teach flying advanced twin-engine airplanes at an United States Army Air Corps flying school, he mentions seeing Frank Verdusco, Bob Quiet, Jack Frost, and H. R. Brolt. Berg was killed in an airplane accident December 24, 1942.
