Boyer, C.A.
The author is writing on stationery from the United States Ship Northampton to say that the newsletter is coming regularly. An engineer officer with stories to tell, he is silenced by censorship. He left San Diego State in 1937 with memories and friendships unaffected by campus changes. Boyer gives an address for Frank Ferguson, a naval ensign at Pearl Harbor.

Dear Dr. Post,
Just a note to let you know I am receiving the news letter regularly. You can be assured that it is a great source of enjoyment to me. Through it I have found what a number of my old friends are doing. It has been some time since I left the campus and in that space of years many friendships which should have been kept alive, if even through correspondence, have died or have been mislaid.

My work is very interesting and constructive. I am an engineer officer and learning something which will be of great value to me in the later years I am sure. Learning to handle men [?] and work with them is an experience which is also invaluable. It would be very interesting to tell you about my travels and what I have seen since entering the service; but that is impossible. For the time being it will have to wait. However, when the story can be told I hope to be able to add my few words.

I suppose the campus has changed a great deal. I left there in Feb. of '37 just before the new construction was started. I am ashamed to say I have been back but twice since I left. However the memories I have of the college, the profs, and the friendships I made can never be take [sic] from me. When I return I hope to renew those friendships and find new ones as well. Incidentaly [sic], I think I have an address for you. It may not be exactly correct; but it is near enough and I am sure he could be reached. Ensign Frank Ferguson VS 3, Ford Island, Pearl Harbor, F.H. [?] He would appreciate receiving the news letter I am sure.

Thanking you for what you are doing for the fellows who are away from home

I remain,
Yours Truly,
Al Boyer
