Davis, Edward Bassford, Jr.
Writing to Lauren Post, Davis says he is "on the same tropic isle as your nephew's company though a considerable number of miles apart. He appreciates Post's card and says he will send his nephew a note promising to "look him up as soon as possible." He knows "some of the sergeants in his outfit and they're a good bunch." At the time, his regiment was on Guadalcanal preparing for Bougainville. Davis was killed in action on Guam in 1944.
