Codling writes on stationery of the Headquarters of the Merced Army Flying School, Office of the Finance Officer that he got his orders on a Sunday and left on Monday for Merced. He apologizes for the delay in sending his change of address. He says as paymaster he gets to know everybody from the commanding officer "on down," and that his work is interesting.
