Chandler "can't tell you where" he is, "because they haven't told me yet. After all, I've only been here for five months." He doesn't "know what's going to happen, or when, but someone is certainly going to be surprised." They have been issued winter wear, shooting "soap bullets at each other," while he is in charge of "walkie-talkie" operation for a rifle company." Chuck Ables and Warren Chambers are close by, and he gives their assignments, along with Jim MacPherson's.
