Ballou, James K.
Ballou details his journey to Carnegie Tech, where he is studying electrical engineering. He likes Pittsburgh, especially compared to the "average army town," since there "dances have about twice as many girls as dogfaces" (soldiers) because "there are only a handful of us around." He says Carnegie Tech has few male civilian students. "It's the only place I've been that the girls stand on the street and whistle at you."
