Simpson, Pfaeffle Kirkpatrick
Simpson remarks that this is his last year in the Naval Academy, where "the most important conflict in my immediate future is the Army-Navy football game." He will look for men from San Diego State College in the new class of "plebes" (freshmen). Admiral Halsey and others praise the "courage and resourcefulness" of men in the Pacific. Simpson was killed in training during the war.
