Rhodes, Alfred
Rhodes's hasty note is a testament to the frenetic pace of building training camps as the United States ramped up the war effort. His engineer battalion was activated at Camp Swift on July 15, and the Army/Air Post Office box shows that there was no post office there yet. By 1945, when the history of his battalion was written, Rhodes, from Escondido, California had become a staff sergeant.
