Kates, Richard Floyd
Kates was "heart-broken" at "permanent" assignment to Foster Field, since transfer is probably not soon possible. John Murphy and George Piburn are at Barksdale Field flying Consolidated B-24s, while, as an instructor, he has only AT-6As and a few P-35s. Nevertheless, the school is "one of the best Advanced schools in the country." Kates was killed in action or training during the war.
