Fox laments the death in action of Milton Phelps, writing how "many of my men came to me and expressed their sorrow." "Perhaps," he says, "now all of us shall awaken--perhaps we now will realize that it is going to take a lot of cool thinking and a hell of a lot more hot fighting to come out on top." He looks forward to leaving soon so that he "perhaps in a small way can 'even the score.'"
