Zinman was an American conductor and violinist who served as the music director for the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich. He performed as the guest conductor with the San Diego Symphony Orchestra on December 19th and 20th, 1975, with pianist Claudio Arrau.
