The tape opens with discussion of the arrangement of boxes of the John and Jane Adams Postcard Collection by several unidentified people with Adams. The name of the person controlling the tape recorder is not on the tape. Doctor Adams describes his collecting philosophy and defines some terms in deltiology, as well as discussing the history and appraisal of the monetary value of the collection. They also talk about other collections he and Jane Adams donated, including university archives, and his history at San Diego State Teacher's College and San Diego State College, as well as papers about San Diego. At right around 1 hour there is a prolonged pause.
