The speaker introduces several United States Government employees in charge of funding. There is Glenn Carroll(?) Chief of Coordination and Special Services of the Department of Labor's Women's Bureau, a member of joint task force looking at new legislation as it relates to displaced homemakers. Doctor Catherine Lyle, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Economic Affairs in the Office of Policy Development in the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Joan Thompson, Deputy Director of the Office of Women's Programs in the United States Office of Education, responsible for, among others, the Women's Educational Equity Act. Next is Faye Mensch, legislative representative for the American Association of Retired Persons and the National Retired Teachers Association, who knows more about funding under the Older Americans Act "than anybody in town." Frances Hamilton is an educational specialist at the Bureau of Occupational and Adult Education. Hamilton is responsible for developing curriculum. These representatives will be available in breakout sessions after their individual speeches. This tape was recorded "live" at the Displaced Homemakers Conference held October 12-14.
