George A. Scott begins the meeting by asking people to be seated. He says he has to offer "a very particular challenge to Mr. Barry Knudson." Asking the assemblage to "please rise," he introduces Knudson (a Latter Day Saints bishop as well as an officer of the company), who leads them in prayer, followed by the pledge of allegiance. The meeting takes place at the College Grove store, the anchor of the original mall called College Grove Shopping Center (opened 1960) in Oak Park. (This mall was demolished in 1999 and The Grove built in its place.)
