Johnson and the banner are at the head of the Archives' contingent, which flies rainbow flags and carries vertical flags with the previous and current Pride themes. At the bottom of the banner in red is the Archives' mission, "preserving and teaching our history." The Archives became the Lesbian and Gay Historical Society of San Diego and then the Lambda Archives in 2003.
