A handwritten note on the back of this photograph identifies the people in the back of the automobile. California Governor Edmund G. "Pat" Brown looks around the head of Senator Thomas Eagleton at the very back. Lionel Van Deerlin sits next to President John F. Kennedy, appearing to brace the legs of the latter. Others are unidentified. Van Deerlin was a member of the House of Representatives. This is a still image of the president after he flew into San Diego to inspect military installations and while he was being driven to San Diego State College to accept a Doctor of Laws degree and give the commencement speech. This same limousine with these people in it are seen in JFK-KFMB-1963, videotaped television coverage of the President's visit.
