The Holland House cafeterias were connected with J.J. Newberry's stores, part of a chain that was started in 1911 but was sold to McCrory Stores, which entered bankruuptcy. The cafeteria and coffee shop depicted on this color picture postcard closed no later than 1997, when all Newsberry's stores closed in California. The back of the card does not give an address but states that it was "located off Highway 80 near 395 in Mission Valley Center." U. S. Highway 80 was still operating in the early 1960s, and Highway 395 was not decommissioned in the San Diego area until 1969. The publisher's number on the back is SC8654.
