Real Photo Post Card of home with five adults and a baby on and near front steps
The Kodak process by which this Real Photo Ppost Card was made allowed people to take photographs and print them on postcard backs for mailing, so this could be a private photograph rather than one manufactured or distributed by an agency. The years of this particular photographic paper are defined by the stamp box on the back of the card, which indicates that the paper was made between 1904 and 1918. The back of the card is divided for a message, which was not allowed by the US Post Office until 1907. There is no publisher or creator shown on this postcard, which shows what looks like a private home with several people on or around the front steps. One woman is sitting on the bannister; another sits on a chair facing the camera. An older man sitting on the steps has one hand supporting a standing infant. Below the child is what might be a small dog or cat. Two men stand close by, one with a foot on the stairs, the other slightly apart. A palm tree is in front of the residence.
