Plastichrome by Colourpicture, Boston, Massachusetts
The message portion of this postcard describes the freeway interchange depicted here as that of "U.S. 395 and Interstate 5." This four-level interchange was built as part of an "I-5 project" in 1964, but by1969 the southern portion (approximately 12 miles) of US Highway 395 had been designated State Route 163. This highway starts just west of Interstate 5, going through Balboa Park, and ends at Interstate 15. The interchange had also accommodated US Highway 80, which changed routes and became Interstate 8. The Bank of America can be seen on the left above the freeway interchange.
