Picture postcard with black-and-white drawing of Grace Lutheran Church in San Diego
Grace Lutheran Church was founded in 1912 as a mission, with Clarence Damschroeder (1891-1984), listed here as pastor, called to San Diego right out of Concordia Seminary at age 20. This property was acquired in 1913 by the English Lutheran Mission, which became a member church of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. The church is described on the back of the card as having been "constructed of reinforced concrete, with the church, parsonage, and parish house built around a landscaped courtyard. In 2013 Grace Lutheran Church remains active at this address at Park Boulevard and Lincoln, San Diego, California, where it was designated by the City of San Diego as a historical landmark on December 5, 1990.
