A spider monkey from Central America sits at the San Diego Zoo
Spider monkeys are an arboreal species, but here a monkey is sitting with its tail curled beside itself. This may be a Geoffroy's spider monkey by the rings around its eyes and the light-colored facial hair and abdomen, as well as black hands. All types of spider monkeys, according to the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources) range from "vulnerable" to "critically endangered" in 2013, but the Geoffroy's is listed as "endangered."
