A baby gorilla hangs onto an upright on a climbing structure covered by an umbrella at the San Diego Zoo
Actual Photo Co., La Jolla, California, US
This self-described "Actual-Photo" picture postcard shows what it states is a "Baby-Gorilla, Children's Zoo, San Diego." The baby is hanging from its left arm from a spoke of the climbing structure that supports an umbrella, apparently putting something in its mouth with the other hand. It is sitting on a branch of the metal structure. The Children's Zoo is within the San Diego Zoo in Balboa Park, San Diego, California. According to the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources), in 2013 the Eastern Gorilla is "endangered," while the Western Gorilla is "critically endangered." The image is an actual photograph rather than a printed reproduction. The back of the card states that it was "finished in West Germany." The number on the back of the card is ZA 28.
