Two koalas sit on a climbing structure at the San Diego Zoo
Kodak photo paper
The handwritten inscription on this black-and-white photograph identifies the animals in the image on this picture postcard as "Koala Bears from Australia at San Diego Zoo." The two koalas sit on a climbing structure, the one on the left with its claws around an upright branch, as if about to climb up. The one on the right looks into the camera. Behind them is the netting or wire of their enclosure at the zoo in Balboa Park, San Diego, California. This is a Real Photo Post Card (RPPC) made with Kodak photo paper (as evidenced in the stampbox on the back of this card). The Real Photo process allowed photographers to take a "snap shot" and have it finished at a photo shop that printed it out on postcard backing for mailing. This Kodak photo paper was made starting in 1950.
