A cheetah stands among rocks in its enclosure at the San Diego Zoo and looks sideways at the camera
Kodachrome by G. E. Kirkpatrick
This is a color postcard of the "Animal Color Series from the San Diego Zoo," stating in the message section that what appears to be a photograph on this picture side is of a "Cheetah, Asia." The animal is standing with its left side toward the camera and turning its head to look straight at the viewer. It appears to be standing on some rocks, presumably in its enclosure at the San Diego Zoo in Balboa Park, San Diego, California. If the description is correct, this would be the subspecies Asiatic cheetah with a range in 2013 in Iran, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, extinct in other countries. In this year, the cheetah as a species is classified as "vulnerable" by the IUCN Red List (International Union for Conservation of Nature).
