This hand-tinted picture postcard shows a lion and lioness lying close together at what appears to be the edge of the moat of their enclosure at the San Diego Zoo. The inscription indicates that their location was the "Lion's Grotto." In 2013, lions are labeled a "vulnerable species" by the IUCN Red List (International Union for Conservation of Nature). The publisher operated from 1914-1934.
