Terrace and Garden of the Kings in the Cafe Del Rey Moro, Balboa Park, San Diego, California
The terrace and garden of the Cafe del Rey Moro in the House of Hospitality in San Diego's Balboa Park. The building in which the cafe operated was originally designed by Carleton M. Winslow, Sr., and constructed for the Panama-California International Exposition of 1915 as the Foreign Arts or Foreign Liberal Arts Building, becoming the House of Hospitality in 1935. In the background the garden constructed by architect Richard Requa can be seen. The building was later demolished and reconstructed to its 1935 appearance, used in 2013 as the Balboa Park Visitors Center. The restaurant retains some of the look of the old Cafe and is named The El Prado. At the time of publication of this postcard, the Cafe was under the management of Paul and Iva Valle.
