Southern Counties Building, Balboa Park, San Diego
The Southern Callifornia Counties Building looks to be not much changed from its appearance during the Panama-California Exposition of 1915 for which it was constructed. This photograph must have been taken before 1925, when it burned down. In 1921 the Community Theater Association (Community Players) moved into the building, and in the same year the San Diego County Federation of Women's Clubs announced an intention to raise funds to renovate the building as a municipal auditorium, which might account for the writing on the photograph, which indicates that the building is a "Municipal Auditorium." The Natural History Museum was dedicated on this site in 1933.
