Easter sunrise service in the Hollywood Bowl--35,000 attending, Hollywood, California
A large crowd attends a religious service at the Bowl. Every seat appears to be occupied. The site of the Hollywood Bowl was chosen in 1919 by William Reed and his son H. Ellis, tasked with finding a suitable outdoor performance siite for the Theatre Arts Alliance. Before it officially opened on July 11, 1922, at least two concerts and an Easter sunrise service had taken place. Although it looks like a Real Photo Post Card, this card was made in Scotland and is probably a collotype. The image bears a strong resemblance to cards colored and sold as linen postcards by different publishers during the 1930s.
