The back, message, portion is headed by "What we saw at Catalina" and Griffith's record of diving for 3 minutes and 41 seconds to a depth of 53 feet. The stampbox claims that the postage required is 2 cents, which is significant, because until 1952 all domestic postcard postage was one cent except for the years 1917-1918 and 1925-1928. The back of the postcard also has a list of animals and plants that can be seen living on the seafloor.
