The Metropole Hotel, Avalon, Santa Catalina Island, California
The Metropole Hotel was across Crescent Avenue from the Steamer Pier from 1887 to 1915. This card could have been produced any time between March 1, 1907, when postal regulations changed to allow divided backs like this one has, and November of 1915, when it burned down along with one-third to one-half the town of Avalon. There is a paragraph of promotional material on the back.
