In this detailed picture, the S. S. Avalon is steaming close to Sugar Loaf Rock, with the old Sugar Loaf casino (1920-1929) behind the rock, and the Hotel St. Catherine in the distance in Descanso Canyon. The flag with a "W" and the motto on the back, "In All the World No Trip Like This," indicate that this picture postcard was part of a promotion by the Wilmington Transportation Company in the 1910s and 1920s.
