Seals on rocks at Santa Catalina Island, California
Seals have been seen in many places around Catalina, but an area just off the southeastern tip of the island is known as Seal Rocks. The motto On the Road of a Thousand Wonders on the back of thiscard indicates that Catalina was considered a destination for a promotion of The Coast Line-Shasta Route of the Southern Pacific Railroad. Southern Pacific produced booklets on this iterary in 1907 and 1908. Maps of the period indicate that San Pedro was on this route, from which one could catch a steamship to Catalina. The publisher's number on the back is E14.
