The beach on the left is Pebble Beach, with Lover's Cove. Visible about 2/3 of the way toward the point in the center of the picture as a straight line up the hill with a building at the top, Angel's Flight was a mountain or incline railway that carried passengers from Pebble Beach to the top of the hill for the view and an inn there. At the top there was another car that carried passengers back and forth from the mountaintop to the Avalon Amphitheater on the other side. It was constructed in 1904 and was in use from 1904 to 1918, and from 1921 to 1923. Past the point, in the next bay over, is one of the steamships used as ferries, in Avalon Bay, with the city beyond.
