Pine Knot is the old name for Big Bear Lake (city), which voted to change its name in 1938. This picture postcard was created by a process in which any photographer could take a "snapshot," deliver the negative to a photo developer and have it printed on a postcard backing. The special papers used for this Real Photo Post Card (RPPC) are indexed by brand and date, and the Dops papers used for this photograph were issued from 1925-1942, according to the letters bordering the stampbox on the back. The publisher's number, last in the line of hand printing on the bottom, is 2206.
