This is the inside cover of PC-000-990A and PC-000-990B, which are paper printouts of postcards glued onto the top of this sheet of cardstock. It describes San Diego as a tourist attraction, with a lilttle history and geography of the area. This mailpiece must have been produced between 1927 (when the El Cortez Hotel pictured inside was built) and 1930, when the Bank of Italy (also shown in the foldout) changed its name to the Bank of America.

SAN DIEGO
AIR CAPITOL OF THE WEST

San Diego ...discovered in 1542 by Juan Roderiquez Cabrillo. The first white settlement on the Pacific Coast of what is now the United States, was established at San Diego in 1769 with the founding of Mission San Diego D'Alcala, the first of the long chain of California missions, by Father Junipero Serra. Near San Diego was fought the famous battle of San Pasqual, and in 1846 John C. Fremont raised the American flag at San Diego for the first time in California.
